Aplastic Anemia in Pregnancy

Abstract
|
|
|
We have reported a case of aplastic anemia complicated by pregnancy and
summarized review of liteature.
On the first visit to the hospital, patient revealed pancytepenia on her 26th week
pregnancy, however her hematologic findings before pregnancy was unknown.
Two months after her first delivery, patient was admitted to the hospital because of
urinary tract infection and was diagnosed as aplastic anemia by bone marrow biopsy.
Patient has been well for 3 years until she was admitted to the hospital because of
generalized edema, dyspnea, petechia and visual disturbance on her 34th week
pregnancy, and was diagnosed as severe aplastic anemia and preeclampsia.
About 8 months after second delivery, her hematologic findings and bone marrow
findings were improved without any medication or transfusion.
Status of aplastic anemia was aggrevated during pregnancy and was improved after
delivery, therefore this case should be aplastic anemia complicated by pregnancy.
